GOAT & SHEEP HOOF CARE CLINIC

    June 30, 2024

This clinic will cover how diet and environment both contribute to hoof health. We will also review my preferred hoof rot treatments, hoof trimming practices, and my prefered tools. The clinic will have three portions: a lecture, practice trimming cadaver legs, and an opportunity to observe me trimming about 10 goats.

  • $100 per clinic

Equine Facility & Track Consultations

  • Onsite facility consultations help property owners and facility managers create an actionable plan for herd management, mud management, manure management, pasture/paddock management, composting, horse keeping and more.

  • $150/hour

Hoof Rehabilitation

  • If your horse’s feet (and body) are in a rehabilitation phase, they are going to benefit from more than just a trim. Every horse is unique, so their specific needs will vary, but here’s a list of treatments that help.

    1. Daily/weekly hoof soaks

    2. Therapy Boots

    3. Hoof Casting

    4. Glue-on Shoes

    5. Weekly trims by owner

    6. Physical Therapy

    7. Thrush Treatment

    8. Hoof Armor

    9. Diet & Nutrition Consultation

If you’re unsure which is best for your horse, ask your trimmer for more details.

  • Because every horse’s needs are unique, talk to your trimmer for reccomended services and costs.

Boot Sizing & Fitting Consultations

  • Therapy and riding boots both have their uses, but finding the right style that works for your horse and the right size that will fit throughout the duration of your trim cycle can be frustrating. I have extensive experience with many brands and styles of both therapy and riding boots. Let me take the frustration out of boot fitting for you.

  • $150/hour

Diet & Nutrition Consultations

  • The nutrition consult includes a comprehensive review of your horse(s) health history, current diet, and lifestyle - and recommendations to help you achieve your goals for each horse.

  • $150/hour

Comfort Menu

  • Services include Red Light Therapy, Accupressure, SureFoot Pads, Massage, Stretching, and others.

I will always strive to make the trimming experience positive, and will often provide a variety of these services at no cost because it improves the relationship between horses and humans, relaxes the horse and facilitates their cooperation for the trim.

  • If you would like your horse to receive a specific modality of comfort in addition to the trim, please let me know. Cost is based on 20 minute “mini” sessions for $50/each

Apprenticeships

  • Every apprenticeship is unique. It’s my goal to help you have the skills and confidence to take on your own clients. Everyone’s needs and goals vary, but here are some areas that I’ve found to be helpful in managing my own business and in mentoring others who are starting out:

    1. Business Development: Creating a measurable and manageable plan to track your progress and keep you on track with your educational goals, financial goals, and personal goals.

    2. Observation Days: an opportunity to ride with me while I trim, observe the different horses as well as different barns, and the corresponding management practices that create the feet I’m trimming.

    3. Hands-on Practice: When ready, I will offer you select horses for you to show me your abilities, and offer suggestions.

    4. Recommended Reading, Viewing, Listening

    5. Horse Handling: Relationship & Communication

    6. Accommodating the older or injured horse: mini bodywork sessions that make the trimming process easier on horse and human

    7. Maintaining a Healthy Body: Trimming is hard work. To be able to sustain this profession, an awareness of our own diet and a consistent physical exercise routine is essential.

  • You ride with me…..$150/day

I ride with you on your route…..$650/day
